Position: Quantity Surveyor – Civils

Location: UK North-West (North Manchester)

Salary: £28,000 – £35,000 +Package


KMC are working on behalf of a Civil Engineering Contractor located in the North West who are looking for a QS to join them and play an integral part in their current expansion plans and be involved with projects across all sectors of the Civil Engineering sector from Infrastructure and Utilities to Groundworks for Housebuilders.


The Role:

This role is aimed at a Quantity Surveyor with around 3-4 years experience in the Civil Engineering Sector.

Your role will include:

·Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client;

·Undertaking costs analysis for repair and maintenance project work;

·Assisting in establishing a client’s requirements and undertaking feasibility studies;

·Performing risk and value management and cost control;

·Advising on procurement strategy;

·Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks;

·Preparing and analysing costings for tenders;

·Allocating work to subcontractors;

·Providing advice on contractual claims;

·Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports;

·Valuing completed work and arranging payments;

·Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use;

·Understand the implications of health and safety regulations.

·In addition, you will also be expected to carry out pre- and post-contract duties, cost feasibilities, cost reporting, and value engineering


Required Skills and Experience:

Candidates will ideally have 3-4 years’ experience in an Graduate/Assistant QS capacity, the ideally within a Civil Engineering environment.

Will preferably be educated to Degree level in a relevant discipline and will ideally have SMSTS and CSCS Competency.

With a good level of knowledge of Contractual Law (NEC 3 would be of benefit)

Full UK Driving Licence required

You should be proficient in all Microsoft office including pricing packages eg Valesco and Construction Lite for project planning.
