Role:                HSE Manager – Highways

Location:        East Anglia

Salary:             To £65,000 + Car/Allowance & Package

The role:

We are interested to hear from experienced HSE Managers who have a proven track record in working on Highways projects either in the UK or Internationally.

This is an opportunity to provide HSE expertise on some of the UK’s most high profile and career enhancing projects working for one of the UK’s Largest Infrastructure Contractors.

The successful candidate will be supporting the Head of HSE in delivering HSE performance levels through the regional HSE and site based support teams.

This is a position at a management level for an individual with a proven track record of delivering exceptional HSE performance within a matrix management structure.

As an overview your role will entail:

  • Assisting the Head of HSE to develop, plan and implement the business stream Zero Harm and  Sustainability objectives.
  • Develop local operating procedures/ arrangements where required and monitor the implementation of these via the regional and project based HSE support teams.
  • Working with the Regional delivery managers, prepare and maintain support resource requirements and ensure they are allocated efficiently and effectively to deliver HSE requirements within the business.
  • Working with the Assurance and compliance teams, develop an appropriate audit schedule in response to risk profile, incidents and trends and monitor the implementation of this.
  • Prepare lessons learned and recommendations from incidents & audits and attend best practice and knowledge sharing communities of practice within CSU


The following qualities/experience are essential:

  • Minimum CMIOSH or above with relevant professional qualifications
  • Demonstrable construction experience whilst operating at a senior management level
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills are required, coupled with an  ability to influence through others and support/coach the Business Stream leadership and HSE teams where necessary


Ideally you should also be able to manage competing priorities within multiple HSE improvement projects and activities and deliver quantifiable improvements in HSE team and business performance.

A salary of up to £65,000 is on offer to the right candidate and the package will also include a Car or Allowance, 25 Days Holiday, Pension and Healthcare.
